Indiana Pacers head into Capital One Arena for the fourth meeting this season against the Washington Wizards. However, the stakes are higher with the loser going home until next season.
In all three games between these two teams this season the Wizards have beaten the Pacers. A few splits that are noteworthy for this game start with Washington playing 7-games on Thursday this season, while bolstering a 4-3 record. However, Wizards are averaging 116.6 points on Thursday while surrendering 119.6 points. When we look at the Wizards playing on one day of rest this year; we find the bulk of their games have been played with a total of 48. Bolstering a 26-22 outright record on one day of rest. However, they are surrendering a point more to opponents. Then factor in how the Wizards underperformed as a team against a beatable Celtics team. This game is beginning to sound closer than at first thought.
Here comes a hungry Pacers team that scorched the Hornets last time out. Never taking the foot off the gas even while they were up big. The Pacers do have an edge in experience playing as a unit longer than the Wizards current roster has been together. I see some of that shining through tonight. In a way its hard to fathom how a Pacers team can beat a team that beat them three times this season. However, it’s hard to imagine Pacers playing any less than their best after that last performance and a game that may mean a tad bit more to them. However, I do not want to be in a position where late in the game Westbrook and Beal put together some sort of miraculous comeback.
Preston’s Best Bet: Indiana Pacers First Half +2.5 (-120)
For my player prop I focused in on a player who returned to the Pacers lineup only to find instant success. Malcolm Brogdon has only played in one game against the Wizards this year. Brogdon played 33 minutes, scored 26 points and dished out 8 assists. I love his prop today against a lackluster Wizards defense.
Preston’s Player Prop: Malcolm Brogdon OVER 27.5 Pts+Ast (-111)
