The Line: Brooklyn Nets (+132) vs. New Orleans Pelicans (-156)
‘Superstar’ Kyrie Irving and the Brooklyn Nets (38-19) travel into the Smoothie King Center for a tough test against the Zion Williams led New Orleans Pelicans (25-32).
The Nets will be short-handed tonight without quite a few players including fellow superstars James Harden (who is now ruled out indefinitely) and Kevin Durant. New Orleans is also without Nickeil Alexander-Walker which hurts their rotation.
Neither team’s starting line-up will pop out at you but when you look deeper than scratching the surface this is an evenly matched contest. Last meeting between these two teams was April 7th, 2021. Brooklyn was without James Harden and Kevin Durant only played four minutes. The Nets went on to beat the Pels by a final score of 139-111.
New Orleans is coming off of an overtime loss against the New York Knicks only two days ago. Back home they are still feeling a little bit of that jet lag. Brandon Ingram and Zion Williams have been consistent as of late and through much of the season. Outside of those two this Pelicans team is sporadic for prolonged periods of time over the course of a game.
Kyrie has been leading the charge for this Nets team and he loves feeding the ball to Bruce Brown and Joe Harris. Both players have been coming on strong and taking advantage of their bump in minute duration. The Nets will be undersized without Claxton tonight. However, Steven Adams has been a let down for the Pelicans this season outside of his terrific rebounding skills. Blake Griffin and Deandre Jordan are two formidable matchups for Adams to handle in the paint tonight.
Preston’s Best Bet: Brooklyn Nets +3 (-114)
