The Line: LA Lakers (-142) vs. Boston Celtics (+120)
Tonight at 7:30 PM (CST) on ABC the LA Lakers (14-6)—led by (SF) Lebron James and company—will look to stop the two-game skid their currently on when they enter the TD Garden venue to play a Boston Celtics (10-7) team finally at full-strength.
(SF) Lebron is listed as probable to play and (PF) Anthony Davis is listed as questionable. I wouldn’t be shocked if Davis sits tonight. However, there is a good probability Davis plays tonight. (PG) Dennis Schroder has been the beneficiary of starting with LeBron and Anthony Davis this year but he is not in mid-season form yet or shooting as well as he could be. They will need a big game from Schroder and other role players to beat a Boston Celtics team that would love to beat a Lakers team with LeBron. Some extra motivation perhaps.
Boston Celtics haven’t hit their stride yet—large in part due to injuries—tonight they are in position to turn the corner after a hard-fought loss to the San Antonio Spurs three nights ago. However, a healthy and fresh Celtics team led by (PF) Jasyon Tatum and (SF) Jaylen Brown are a tough-out for this Lakers squad on the road. (PG) Kemba Walker and (SG) Marcus Smart aren’t even playing their best basketball and they look good as of late. I wouldn’t be surprised to see a hot-start from the Celtics tonight.
When handicapping a game it’s never as easy as fading “The Public”. Boston Celtics have won their last two out of three games and in those two-wins they won by sixteen points against the Chicago Bulls, and thirty-eight points against the Cleveland Cavaliers.
The Boston Celtics rank ninth in offensive efficiency opposed to the LA Lakers who rank seventh respectively. I anticipate a high-scoring affair between these two teams tonight.
My wager: Boston Celtics +4.5 (-164)
Play or Fade? I’d love to know.
