The Line: New York Knicks vs. Utah Jazz
New York Knicks arrive at Vivint Smart Home Arena to play the Utah Jazz. In a showcase of rising Eastern Conference stars versus a smoking-hot Western Conference Jazz squad; on an eight-game winning streak.
(PF) Julius Randle and (SF) RJ Barrett for the Knicks will have favorable match-ups tonight. Randle is on track for a breakout year and as he goes the team goes; so to speak. Julius Randle leads the Knicks in points, rebounds, and assists! RJ Barrett dipped in his last game against the Blazers but this Knicks team still went over the point total set by oddsmakers. Early this morning “the public” was hovering around 34% on the Over 211.5 point total for this game. Since then the public has shifted to 50% on tonight’s over! One of my rules of thumb in placing wagers is always respecting sharp line movement. In the last two out of three games the Knicks have gone over the point total set by oddsmakers.
I really enjoy this Utah Jazz team and the three-headed monster in (PG) Mike Conley, (SG) Donovan Mitchell, and (C) Rudy Gobert. All three-players have majorly contributed to their current eight-game winning streak. In the Utah Jazz’s last three-games they have gone over the point total set by Vegas oddsmakers. ESPN’s basketball power index gives the Jazz a 76.2% chance to win this game.
At first glance the over is set extremely low. I believe the slower pace from both teams helps the over in this scenario. With a slower pace you typically see closer games, possible overtime, and that spells a bump in free-throws down the stretch. Both teams will have plenty of time to set their offenses up and it doesn’t take much for the Jazz shooters to get in rhythm. The Knicks should reach at least 100 points based on pace and offensive efficiency. I believe the Jazz will get the rest of the points we need for tonight s best bet.
My wager: OVER 211.5 Total Points (-115)
