The Line: San Antonio Spurs (+126) vs. New Orleans Pelicans (-148)
Tonight at 8:05 PM (CST) the San Antonio Spurs unload the luggage at the Smoothie King Center to face off against the New Orleans Pelicans in an NBA Western Conference showcase of young stars, and crafty veterans.
The money coming in for the Spurs is incredible! The Spurs are 4-1 (ATS) while being the underdog this year. The Pelicans are 0-4 (ATS) when favored at home and are on a abysmal losing streak.
The Spurs aren’t the best defensive team and they rank 16th in pace this year. Which tells me they like to grind out lower scoring games. Which makes since why 62.1% of the PUBLIC loves the under 223.5 total points in this game.
The Pelicans are looking for a win to stop the 3-game losing skid. (PF) Zion Williamson and (SF) Brandon Ingram will undoubtedly get theirs on the boards tonight. However, the well-coached Gregg Popovich team is highly improbable to bet against in this spot. (SG) DeMar DeRozan is one of the best players at driving to the rim. (PG) Dejounte Murray is coming off of a stellar triple-double performance last night against the Washington Wizards. (SF) Keldon Johnson has contributed greatly and leads the Spurs in rebounding this year. Three crafty veterans in (PF) LaMarcus Aldridge, (SF) Rudy Gay, and (PG) Patty Mills have been making great use of their minutes this season as well.
The Pelicans are one of the worst teams at closing out on perimeter shooters this season which bodes well for the Spurs who rank 13th in three-point shooting. Spurs rank in the top ten for free throw percentage opposed to the Pelicans that rank almost dead last.
I see this game being close through and throughout. The Spurs have the right momentum coming into this contest. The line for the spread is at Spurs +3 on Fanduel Sportsbook last time I checked so I’m buying up a point and a half to account for any late game heroics from the Pelicans, or free throw woes from the Spurs.
My wager: San Antonio Spurs +4.5 (-156) *Risk 1 unit*
On the Pelicans side of the ball tonight I love the opportunity for (SF) Brandon Ingram to knock down shots from long-range. In his last four games he has went over 2.5 three-point makes twice. Tonight his prop is sitting at OVER 2.5 made threes. He needs three and I believe he will have plenty of chances to do it. I’m banking on him firing up quite a few shots coming off a day of rest in a Western Conference showdown.
My wager: Brandon Ingram OVER 2.5 made threes (+140) *Risk .25 unit*
