The Line: Florida Atlantic (-385) vs. Florida International (+290)
UPDATE: Right before kick off Javion Posey was named starting QB For FAU.
Three college football games for a third day in a row. God bless America! FAU doesn’t have to travel far to play FIU who they have dominated in their the last three match-ups.
Both of these teams scored 10 points against their opponent in their last game. FIU has not played since October 23rd, 2020. FAU has played twice since FIU has played their last game. FAU enters this game on 6 days rest. You won’t find but two statistics that FIU is better than FAU in.
One area where FIU is better than FAU is rushing yards. FIU has a speedster at running back in D’vonte Price who can take one to the house if he gets in open space. Price has racked up 303 yards this season on 35 carries with 3 touchdowns. Surpassing what he accomplished last season. Junior running back Malcolm Davidson is the lead back for FAU. Davidson has 195 yards on 26 carries and one touchdown this season.
Both quarterbacks are looking for a game to put their school on the map. FAU quarterback Nick Tronti is having a mixed year. They are winning games but he is not looking spectacular by any means. Tronti is 47 for 87 passing the ball, 490 yards passing, 3 touchdowns and one interception. Not bad but not the most accurate. One thing Tronti in perticular I like about Tronti is he can run the option or scramble effectively if he must. FIU quarterback Stone Norton (Who doesn’t love the name Stone?), is completing 53.1% of his passes for 207 passing yards and 3 touchdowns. Extra preparation time for him for this game. He is a Freshman, which worries me. However, I feel confident about where he is at in his progressions at quarterback.
Each team has a top receiver to look out for. Tonight be looking out for TJ Chase on the FAU side. Then pay attention to Bryce Singleton on the FIU side at receiver. Chase is the more athletic player while Singleton is the more physical receiver. Both receivers lead their teams respectively in receiving yards. These men will look to impress underneath Friday Night Lights!
Prestons Favorite Bet: Florida International Total Team Points OVER 14.5 (-108).
If you know me by now, you know I don’t do UNDERS; unless the value defies my skepticism. Florida International is rested up and fired up to play under Friday Night Lights at HOME! I am not saying who will win but I absolutely believe they will score over 14.5 points. Last year FIU scored a meager 7 points and was routed by FAU. This is payback time!
