The Line: Eastern Michigan (+260) vs. Ball State (-320)
UPDATE: Hassan Beydoun and Darius Boone Jr. ruled OUT tonight.
Three games on back to back nights for college football. A great way to get over hump day is of course with more football. A special Happy Veterans Day! To all our veterans far and wide, thank you for your service.
Eastern Michigan (0-1) comes into Muncie, Indiana facing off against Ball State (0-1). On a cold night for football. 45 degrees Fahrenheit, dropping with six mile per hour wind. Not uncommon for these two teams. Eastern Michigan’s offense was anemic in their last game on the road at Kent State. Preston Hutchinson was shaky, 21/35 throwing the ball, 241 yards, 2 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. The lead rusher Darius Boone Jr. totaled 68 yards on 9 carries. Wide receiver Hassan Beydoun was the lead receiver who caught 9 passes for 112 yards. Eastern Michigan’s defense is below average statistically speaking. The one spot they really struggle is containing the run. Surrendering 212 yards on the ground against Kent State.
Ball State has the benefit of being at home after a hard fought loss. Where the tide of the game was hanging in the balance until late in the contest. Quarterback Drew Plitt was 19/32, 309 yards, and 2 touchdowns and 1 interception. Ball State running back Caleb Huntley shined. Having 2 touchdowns, 21 carries for 130 yards with a longest run of 45 yards. The senior is a physical back that will fight for extra yards. Receiving wise Ball State has two great options in Justin Hall and Antwan Davis. Both went over 100 yards receiving and Hall reeled in a touchdown. Ball State’s defense is nothing special but I get the feeling they will be in good shape against Eastern Michigan tonight.
My Favorite Pick: Ball State -8 to cover the spread (-110).
