An extremely good Tennessee Titans team rolls into Denver for the second game of MNF’s doubleheader. Opening game for both teams. Increased pressure playing on Monday Night Football. Traveling into higher altitude for the Titans won’t bode well for their players stamina. Broncos down (LB) Von Miller. (WR) Courtland Sutton for the Broncos is also expected to be inactive. (CB) Adoree’ Jackson is on IR for the Titans. (LB) Vic Beasley JR. is ruled out for the Titans. All factors bettors should consider before making wagers tonight.
Titans lead the all-time series over the Broncos (23-18-1). Last season the Broncos defense was able to contain Titans running back Derrick Henry from having a breakout performance. Winning 16-0 over the Titans. Mind you, Denver accomplished that with Joe Flacco at quarterback who was benched later in the season for current starter Drew Lock. Crafty veteran quarterback Ryan Tannehill leads the Titans into Mile-High Stadium tonight.
A retooled Denver offense up against a tight-knit Titans defensive unit is something to watch for. With the Broncos addition of wide receiver Jerry Jeudy and lack of depth at this position, I expect Jeudy to be targeted often tonight. The best addition the Titans made this year was signing defensive end Jadeveon Clowney to an already impressive defensive front-seven. Don’t sleep on the two-running back system the Broncos will be using! With the addition of Melvin Gordon to balance out Phillip Lindsay’s carries that bodes well for the Broncos offensive creativity.
Titans running back Derrick Henry will be looking to get revenge on Denver’s defense from last year. Both of these offenses are balanced. Titan’s quarterback Tannehill brings leadership and awareness to his position. Denver’s quarterback Drew Lock has a lot to prove but he is not short on weapons.
Broncos were far better on defense in total yard per game and passing yards per game last season opposed to the Titans. There isn’t much mystery in this Titans offense. The Titans offense goes as Henry goes. Although, I think Henry has a better performance than last year; Broncos at home in their element for week 1 will challenge this Titans team until the end.
My best bet: OVER 41 (-112).
FINAL SCORE PREDICTION:
Broncos 24 – Titans 21
