How about them Cowboys? Tonight Dallas Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott along with supporting cast roll into LA to take on the mighty Rams. Rams quarterback Jared Goff will be looking to start the year off right with a win at home. A new look Rams and Cowboys give us an exciting match-up and a bit of a precursor to the future of these franchises.
My stand-out player to watch tonight is defensive end Aaron Donald. Donald was sensational last season and will be causing havoc all night. The Rams front-seven versus the Cowboys offensive line is going to amplify this game. Look for Ezekiel Elliott to try and find his footing early on against some fresh faces on the Rams defensive front. Prescott can’t do it alone and if the running game isn’t established this Rams secondary led by cornerback Jalen Ramsey will feast.
Jared Goff has more to prove to me in this game than Dak Prescott does. The Cowboys were 3rd in passing yards per game last season. The Rams were ranked 5th in passing yards per game last season. The difference is the Cowboys kept both of their 1,000 yard receivers in Amari Cooper and Michael Gallup. Also blessed with CeeDee Lamb to throw the ball to is not shabby either. Goff will have a full arsenal. With wide receivers Cooper Kupp and Robert Woods. Also solid tight-end Tyler Higbee. This game has a lot of fire-power!
Both teams are average at stopping the pass. The Rams are worse statistically than the Cowboys at stopping the run. However, I am not impressed with the Cowboys defense.
My best bet: OVER 51.5 (-116).
Final Score: Rams 38 – Cowboys 31
