Irwin Rivera (-185) vs. Ali AlQaisi (+150). First fight on the prelims. Rivera’s nickname is ‘The Beast’ because he is exactly that. His latest fight was against formidable opponent Giga Chikadze which resulted in a loss by split decision. Impressive in that bout his current form has been strong coming into this fight. Fighting 3 times in 2019 and winning every bout by KO/TKO. This is Ali AlQaisi’s debut fight in the UFC. He has experience but there is a big drop in competition compared to Rivera’s resume. Not to get to caught up in the records but it does have a bearing on this fight. Rivera’s brute strength and ability to put combinations together is why picking him makes sense here.
My wager: Rivera ML (-185).
Beneil Dariush (-210) vs. Scott Holtzman (+170). First fight on the main card. Beneil Darisuh missed weight and oddsmakers still have Dariush as the favorite. Now is our time to cash in. ‘Hot Sauce’ Holtzman is not a gateway fighter by any means. Holtzman has put together a nice professional record of 14-3. Currently on a 2 fight win streak. This is his opportunity to beat the #14 ranked fighter at lightweight. Beneil is going to be tough for Holtzman to finish but Holtzman has shown he can go the distance without complications. It will be an upset if Holtzman wins this fight being that Beneil is on a nice run himself stringing together 4 impressive wins in a row. Beneil hoisting a proper 18-4-1 professional record. This is my pick for fight of the night!
My wager: Holtzman ML (+170).
Maki Pitolo (+130) vs. Darren Stewart (-160). Watching both of these fighters before I can tell you right away Stewart is being over valued here by the books. Time to cash in. Pitolo’s nickname is ‘Coconut Bombz’ for a reason. This dude has rockets for hands and he will send you to another planet quick! Stewart is a well rounded fighter and I do enjoy watching him in the octagon. Stewart has great movement, timing, and accuracy. What Stewart lacks is the power that Pitolo has that will change the momentum of the fight drastically once a few of those punches land. Stewart has never been knocked out but he has struggled against more powerful opponents in the past.
My wager: Pitolo ML (+130).
