Takeaways from NASCAR Indianapolis Big Machine 400

Harvick, Logano, and Hamlin all went in as betting favorites.

1st stage highlights: Byron in the #24 Chevrolet pulled off an amazing stage 1 win. Unfortunately he would finish the race in 27th place. Look for him to be a force on tracks similar to the brickyard.

2nd stage highlights: Harvick in the #4 Busch Light Ford was roaring all day and took the 2nd stage. Beating out Chase Elliott, and Denny Hamlin who finished 2nd, and 3rd at the end of stage 2.

Your Indianapolis Big Machine 400 winner is … Kevin Harvick in a thrilling overtime victory!

We are now seeing what I believe to be the resurgence of Matt Kenseth in the #42 Chevrolet after an amazing run and a 2nd place finish. Beating out his group of drivers as well.

Side notes: Almirola in the #10 Ford found a way to finish 3rd and has a strategy that appears to be working at the finish of the race. Keselowski in the #2 Ford ran a good hard race and finished 4th overall better than all of his teammates. Winning manufacturer was Ford and 4 out of the top 5 finishing makes were also Fords.

Big disappointments: Denny Hamlin, Truex Jr., Blaney, and Bowman all did not finish the race due to accident. Not their fault but still disappointing to say the least.
